For all the famous people who live in Miami, star-gazing as a popular tourist sport will more likely find success in spotting stars from out of town. Not that there’s not a lot to choose from, because stars come through the city hourly, and no one ever knows who one might see. Check any listing for the popular events of the evening, and there’s some idea of what’s in store for visitors staying in the hotels Miami offers. But star-gazing is a sport that really is a matter of luck, and a little bit of common sense.

It’s always less disappointing, however, to let the city choose the direction for the evening’s entertainments. There’s too much fun to be had, and waiting for a celebrity is a recipe for missing the beautiful things that fall in one’s path. It is true that Shakira does have a house here, and in fact is already on her second mansion, because the first one was too small. She’s hard to spot, though, because her busy schedule on endless tours means that the city is a respite, and she’s not likely to step out for an evening. There’s nothing stopping the rest of the city, however, and on a good evening, everyone gets to be a star.
